Printer Subscription – A Hospitality Case Study

In order for business leaders to create value, there needs to be a level of control in every step along the way.

However, associating the level of control with ownership is an exaggeration that can end up costing more than what you should have spent in the long run. In fact, in many cases, including a set levy brings a sense of flexibility that you may not have gotten in the rigidness of ownership.

Your other option then is renting. And, given that the renting market is evolving into a subscription model, you have more options that you are aware of.

The Growth Mentality

Ownership of property or assets is important when there is an extended appreciation from the viewers. An impressive house, a shiny car, and the newest phone are all such options. A Student going to university will usually rent accommodation rather than purchasing. There is even an argument to be made that most of these purchases are based on a sense of appreciation by external viewers rather than a real need.  However, given that the appreciation may lead to business opportunities, such expenditure can be waived in some cases.

However, ownership, for the sake of control, especially in business can hurt. Therefore, it is advisable to learn about your market and needs, before going all in.

A good example here is the transportation hire services. As a business, it is tempting to go all in and have 50 different kinds of vehicles; make them luxury vehicles while you are at it; but if the business doesn’t take off, all these vehicles will be confiscated. However, once the business has reached a point of enough maturity, the same vehicles will act as greater investments, then possibly costing you less than the initial subscription options.

We have a similar case here with printers too, with extended benefits.

Subscribing to a Printer

We are offering printer control without ownership.

Having control without ownership is a fantastic investment. Not only does it reduce costs but also act as a valuable asset for business to stabilize cash flow and avoid unexpected costs.

And, we guarantee that our options surpass the avenues open to you already:

  1. In order to save money, you could opt for low cost printers. However, you will have to pay more back for the constant need for cartridges and potentially high repair costs.
  2. Your other option is to go for high quality printers, which, of course, cost a premium. However, at least, repairs, upgrades, and replacements are cheaper here.

What if you can have the quality printer, while your needs for cartridges and repairs are also covered. This is exactly our offer.

Case Study – Hotel Printing Needs

One of our hotel clients is spread across 13 sites.

As you can imagine, each site has a high usage of printers, needing to print pages in the 1,000s every month. Given that we charge a flat price for a 1,000 pages plus a subsidised cost for any printing afterwards, we have been able to cut the cost of printing for our clients into an even half from £400 a month to £200.

This leads to:

Savings per location per site per year = £200 x 12 = £2,400

Savings for the hotel chain per year = £2,400 x 13 = £31,200

In addition, all our printers allow all printing to be done in high quality colour, meaning that the hotels do not have to cut corners to keep the cost of printing down. Doing so is beneficial both from a customer as well as internal management perspective.

Concluding Remarks

Subscribing to a printer from us is quite comparable to getting a phone contract, with a couple of extra benefits.

You get your calling minutes and texts in the form of printing credits; your printer is always connected to the internet and when your ink is going down, new cartridges are dispatched automatically.

However, unlike a phone contract where you are tied down for 24 months, you can back out of our printers in 12 month intervals. What’s more, we guarantee the prices for a period of 3 years, meaning that even if our prices go up, you will keep paying the price in your contract.
